They first recognize their parents’ voice and answer to their parents’ response. Next they learn to recognize their immediate family members. Finally they recognize their preschool teachers and peers. Preschool for toddlers usually begin by the age of two when the child learns to explore the objects around them. By the time they are three years of age they tend to learn to operate independently.

For children between one to three years:
• When the baby makes sound, the parent can repeat that sound. This will help the baby to speak in whole sentences and make better use of language.
• Singing to the child or playing good and soothing music around the child helps the child to have a better mental growth.
• Another very good activity to make your child aware of himself or herself is by making him or her identify his or her body parts as you name them. You can also name objects and ask them to find out those objects.
• Take the child out for a walk so that he or she is acquainted with the surrounding.

For children between three to five years
• Let the child be a part of simple household chores that will make the child more responsible.
• Encourage your child to go out to play and be socially active amongst peers.
• Encourage them to be proficient speakers who have good language skills and speak whole sentences.
